How to “Remix” a Scratch project at home.

For those children in year 4, 5 or 6 who didn’t get chance to finish their maths quizzes here are some instructions so that you can do some more on them over half term if you so wish. Important: remember that to do this you will need permission from your parents/carers as they will need to help you set up an account (see photo 3). Year 4 and 6,  I will post links to your games as soon as I can.

Marathon Mayhem

In year 5 they have been doing Great Greece and they have made a Newspaper about The battle of Matathon. Did you know for example that the first ever marathon was ran by a man called Phedippedes in the battle of Marathon? It was from Athens to Sparta and back again! He ran 26 miles – 26 miles!! But when he came back from Sparta he died from exhaustion. But before he died he said “nike” which means “we won” in Latin and thats where Nike got their clothing name from! Next week I shall be wrtting about year 5’s Mythical creatures so see you then.

Magic Box Poem Competition.

Magic Box Poems Competition

Attention everybody there will be a magic box of poems competition! Guess what? Your mums and dads can enter. It all started when Kristof a child in year 2 shared some of his brilliant work in assembly.

It was a beautiful poem about special things inside a box so Mrs. Ward decided to challenge everybody including the adults from Our Lady’s to write a special magic poem. But the problem was that we didn’t have a place to put the poems because we have too much good work, so Nursery made a Magic Poem box and it looks fabulous so if you want to have a look I will put a photograph of the Magic Box up at the top.

Also some of the poems will be featured on the school newspaper the poems will be judged after the half term holiday are you going to enter the writing competition I hope you do.

So remember the competition will be judged after the half term so you better get writing!

500 words story writing competition!

Did you know the world’s 500 word story writing competiton 2015 is starting soon? Well, why don’t you enter the competition then if you are really interested! BBC two radio are hosting it and you have to be at least 5 to enter and 13 years old maximum.

I was just letting you know because this school (which is very talented at story writing and poetry) are also entering it in  key stage two children, (year 3, 4, 5 and 6).

Here are the house build-up  tips to get you started;

1) create a character

2) describe it

3) transform it into one story

4) does it have magical powers?

5) what is so special about it?

6) you need to have a beginning, middle and end!

7) use time connectives, punctuation and speech (if needed).

8) always count how many words you have wrote every time you write a paragraph

9) make sure you type it up

10) ask a parent to help if you are stuck!

Quotes Lavender =Tamia,

turquoise =Michael Morpurgo

“You think it is a lot, but you do not realise how short it is!”

By Tamia

“Wherever my story takes me, however dark and difficult the theme, there is always some hope and redemption, not because readers like happy endings, but because I am an optimist at heart. I know the sun will rise in the morning, that there is a light at the end of every tunnel.”

By Michael Morpurgo

I hope all this information has inspired you to enter this famous competition so keep writing!

No Homework

DSCF0140DSCF0141 DSCF0142 DSCF0143

Y4 have been making up excuses for not having their homework! They are naughty little children, not bringing in their homework!! It’s just a joke. They are fantastic children with lots of talent and intelligence and ideas. And so are their excuses! They’re so persuading, if you were a teacher, you’d let them off, BUT NEVER DO!! No teacher should fall for that trick!
